PRO: An ACI Center of Excellence for Advancing Productivity releases 3rd section of the Constructability Blueprint PRO’s Constructability Blueprint is a free document featuring live links to references and other valuable resources. It can be used as a guide for all individuals and companies looking to improve their projects’ productivity. Section 3, titled System-Specific Constructable Design Principles “expand[s] on the constructable design principles provided in Section 2. While the guidelines in Section 2 are applicable to all concrete building projects, the guidelines in Section 3 will assist the designer in unlocking the productivity potential specific to a variety of concrete construction formwork systems and construction techniques. These design principles cannot replace the assistance offered by an experienced and knowledgeable concrete contractor during a collaborative design assist effort; however, they can provide owners and designers with a better understanding of specific systems. In addition to providing value when contractor input is not possible during the design phase, this awareness can help improve communication during the bidding and construction phases of projects.” (Constructability Blueprint, p. 118). The Constructability Blueprint will continually evolve and expand its constructability concepts with input from members and other proven experts in concrete industry productivity. The digital guide is available to download at no cost through PRO’s website at concreteproductivity.org/constructabilityblueprint. About PRO — PRO: An ACI Center of Excellence for Advancing Productivity was established in 2023 by the American Concrete Institute. The Center, based at ACI World Headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA, is a catalyst for solving the barriers of constructability to advance concrete construction productivity, leveraging ACI’s role as a world-leading authority and resource for the development, dissemination, and adoption of consensus-based standards for concrete design, construction, and materials.
